Hello runners and athletes! My name is Corbin Lehn and for me running has been huge passion for a large portion of my life. My journey began like many of yours gasping for air in the dreaded PE mile. But in the midst of the suffering something clicked, and soon I was toeing the line at local road races. (Columbus Downtown Runaround my first!) People just like me showing up doing odd stretches, wearing their short shorts, all trying to run fast, have fun, and get some free food. I found my people.
The summer before my eight grade year I followed a week by week training plan in the local newspaper for a half marathon (Bill Seymour). I eagerly anticipated the Sunday paper each week to get the next week of training. At the end of the summer I finished the half marathon and it opened my eyes to future possibilities. I began diving into any running related articles I could find and became a student of the sport. High School cross country and track followed. I was fortunate to be coached by a NJCAA National Cross Country Champion (Fred Carnahan) and few other key individuals. With growing expectations the mental side of running became increasingly difficult. Key end of the season races proved to be tough for me! Despite, not meeting all of my lofty goals I left high school hungry for more.
With a continued desire to grow as a runner I attended Wayne State College to run Cross Country and Track and major in Exercise Science. My college coach told me that you really have to love the sport at this level to stick with it. And over the next fours years I found that to be very true. During this time I grew so much as a runner and a person.
After college I took a step back from running for a couple years and then dove back into it coaching myself to PRs and finishes in distances from the half marathon to 50 miles. More than anything during this time on my own, I learned to trust the process, and greatly improved improved my mindset when it came to training and racing.
